IELTS Journey

I've always dreaded taking the IELTS exam because I'm not confident in my speaking abilities since I grew up in a family where we always communicated in Filipino. Even though English is the medium of instruction in schools and at work, I always find myself stuttering and lost for words. ๐Ÿ˜ Way back in the early years of my career, a lot of my friends and co workers opted to take the IELTS to go for an English-speaking country to continue their careers but since I didn't have enough funds and I fear failing the exam, i chose to work in the Middle East instead. Little did I know that I still have to take the exam years later when I have finally decided to pursue my American ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ dreams. Luckily the scores needed for US is less than of the UK, Australia, New Zealand etc.  My IELTS exam was postponed once, I was supposed to take it in April 2020 but due to the pandemic, all examination centers were closed and a total lockdown was implemented in Oman. Come October 2020, when eve

My daily COVID-19 journey

A brief background:  I attended a birthday party ๐ŸŽ‰and had too much sugar aka cakes ๐ŸŽ‚ and other desserts ๐Ÿฎ that night and the day after. The attendees were all living in the same building with less than 10 people but the party was held in an enclosed flat.  Day 1 (April 1, 2021) I woke up with a sore throat. I am not new to this because I have very sensitive tonsils and they can easily get swollen whenever I consume lots of sweets and not drink enough water๐Ÿšฐ afterwards. I tried home remedies such gargling with warm salt water, consuming Strepsils every 4 hours and drinking hot water with Thieves essential oil to ease the pain but to no avail.   Day 2  The pain won’t go away so I examined my tonsils and found some white patches on the right tonsil, an indication of infection. I then decided to take an antibiotic (Co-Amoxiclav ๐Ÿ’Š). Day 3  After 3 doses of antibiotics, there were no significant changes in my condition so I changed the antibiotic to Eythromycin hoping that the pain will

My COVID-19 story

I am a nurse ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍⚕️, a frontliner who deals with a lot of people who have different kinds of needs. I am greatly exposed to known and unknown diseases of man and it is a risk I embraced when I took the oath. I consider nursing as a calling and not just a profession because one must be passionate enough in caring for the patients regardless of their status and condition.  But this pandemic has shaken and tested my nursing values and beliefs. I almost came to a point where I wanted to quit this job but due to some reasons, I just couldn't give up.  Everyday, I get to deal with hard and irresponsible people in my care. Those people who cannot follow simple rules such as proper wearing of mask inside the health facility. They are the very reason why this pandemic seems to last forever ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ‍♀️. One year into the pandemic and they still believe that the coronavirus is a hoax ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝ‍♀️. It’s frustrating when you’re the only one who follows the protocols but I still made sure to properly pr

DIY VisaScreen

VisaScreen® : Visa Credentials Assessment Service is a comprehensive screening service for healthcare professionals seeking an occupational visa to work in the United States. Applicants who successfully complete VisaScreen® receive an official ICHP Certificate for the VisaScreen®: Visa Credentials Assessment Service. This certificate satisfies the United States Federal screening requirements. *** I already have a CGFNS account in 2017 because I used it for my CVS which was a requirement by the NY-BON before I could take the NCLEX-RN. I paid for an agency (NEAC) to process this but I won't recommend them since they weren't so helpful and accommodating that time.  ***The CGFNS website has a new portal and I had to edit my personal data first before I can proceed with the order.    https://applicants.cgfns.org/portal/view/login November 2, 2020: I started my DIY VisaScreen and the procedure is as follows: 1. Complete data in "My Profile "  I answered all of the question
